 Faith Promise - Reaching Beyond

Reaching Beyond...this means reaching beyond the four walls of our Church. Since Jennifer and I have been here, we have been blown away by the love that is shared here at CCV. With that said, I would love to promote a challenge to our congregation this year that is threefold:

  1. Reevaluate the relationship that we have with our Redeemer.
  2. Reevaluate the relationship we have with His redeemed.
  3. Reevaluate the relationship we have with the redeemable.

Are we living up to the real potential that God has blessed us with? Are we truly reaching up…out and beyond?  All three are crucial for a Christian to live the life that Christ intended! One of the weakest of these three for most churches is the reaching beyond part… Reaching Beyond is just that…reaching out to the redeemable!

Clive Lewis said in his book Mere Christianity, “Jesus works on us in all sorts of ways…through nature, through our own bodies, through books, sometimes through experiences which seem at the time anti-Christian…but above all, He works on us through each other. Men are mirrors, or “carriers” of Christ to other men. Sometimes unconscious carriers.”

We cannot Reach Beyond, “missions wise,” if we are not conscious about it!  Faith Promise is a wonderful avenue for us to be pro-active about reaching the redeemable worldwide, while still meeting the needs of a growing church here at CCV. This stewardship campaign allows us to go above and beyond our normal giving each Lord’s Day so that, through God’s provisions, we can grow His body here locally and grow His body cross culturally as well!

Michael Foutz
Sr. Minister

“Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power, the glory, the splendor, and the majesty; for everything in heaven and on earth is yours…Everything comes from you, and it is only of your gift that we give to you”
- 1 Chronicles 29:11

Questions and Answers

What is the Faith Promise Offering Campaign?
It is the title of the stewardship campaign to underwrite our 2010 Faith Promise Missions commitments.  Offerings to Faith Promise missions are given above and beyond our gifts to the general fund which supports all other CCV ministries.

What is our need?
The dollar amount needed to reach our missions outreach goals is $74,000.

How is the goal determined?
Our Faith Promise missions team spends much time and prayer in determining which missions will be supported in the coming year.  We are in regular communication with our current missions and missionaries; and carefully review the annual reports which they submit detailing how their funds are used, how well their goals are being met and how we can be of service to them.  The team also carefully considers requests for new missions support.  All missions must meet two criteria:  1) The ministry and its leaders must have uncompromising commitment to spreading the Gospel to the lost. 2) The people of Christ’s Church of the Valley  must have a connection with the ministry.

The 2010 Outreach Missions Team includes Phil Davis, Ministry Partners Team Leader; Stephen King, Mobilization Team leader; Ardyce Huhn, Secretary; Sherry Morrison, Treasurer; Chris Taylor, Staff Liaison; and Dianne Young and Cheri VanDeMark.

What am I being asked to do?
Above all, pray about your involvement in making the Faith Promise campaign a success.  One of the foremost purposes of this newsletter is to seek your informed prayer.  “...in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God” (Philippians 4:6)

Specifically, we are challenging everyone who believes in the vision and mission of CCV to pray this prayer:  Lord, what would you have me to do to reach beyond in 2010?

How does the campaign conclude?
The week of October 26th, you will be mailed a commitment card on which you may write your 2010 commitment to the Faith Promise campaign.  As an act of worship, bring it with you in a sealed envelope to church on Faith Promise Sunday, November 1st.  If you are unable to be in church that Sunday, you may mail it in or drop it by the church office.

What if I choose not to make a written commitment?
Some contribute regularly but do not make a commitment.  How you give, when you give, and how much you give is between you and God.  If possible, however, making a written commitment enables leaders to be responsible in their planning and sets a worthy spiritual goal for yourself.  All commitments are kept confidential.
