Where to find help in time of need? Minimize

When needing courage:

Psalm 138:3 3In the day that I called, you answered me. You encouraged me with strength in my soul.

Ephesians 6:10-13 10Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of his might.11Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.12For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world`s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.13Therefore, put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and, having done all, to stand.

When filled with sinful pride:

1 Corinthians 4:7 7For who makes you different? And what do you have that you didn`t receive? But if you did receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?

Philippians 2:3-8 3doing nothing through rivalry or through conceit, but in humility, each counting others better than himself;4each of you not just looking to his own things, but each of you also to the things of others.5Have this in your mind, which was also in Christ Jesus,6who, existing in the form of God, didn`t consider it robbery to be equal with God,7but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men.8Being found in human form, he humbled himself, becoming obedient to death, yes, the death of the cross.

When facing danger:

Psalm 91 1He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.2I will say of Yahweh, "He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in whom I trust."3For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler, From the deadly pestilence.4He will cover you with his pinions, Under his wings you will take refuge. His truth is a shield and a buckler.5You will not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day;6Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor for the destruction that wastes at noonday.7A thousand shall fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it will not come near you.8You will only look with your eyes, And see the reward of the wicked.9For you, Yahweh, are my refuge! You have made the Most High your habitation.10No evil will happen to you, Neither shall any plague come near your tent.11For he will give his angels charge over you, To guard you in all your ways.12They will bear you up in their hands, So that you won`t dash your foot against a stone.13You will tread on the lion and cobra. You will trample the young lion and the serpent underfoot.14Because he has set his love on me, therefore I will deliver him. I will set him on high, because he has known my name.15He will call on me, and I will answer him. I will be with him in trouble. I will deliver him, and honor him.16I will satisfy him with long life, And show him my salvation. Psalm 92 A Psalm. A song for the Sabbath day.

Psalm 121 1I will lift up my eyes to the hills. Where does my help come from?2My help comes from Yahweh, Who made heaven and earth.3He will not allow your foot to be moved. He who keeps you will not slumber.4Behold, he who keeps Israel Will neither slumber nor sleep.5Yahweh is your keeper. Yahweh is your shade on your right hand.6The sun will not harm you by day, Nor the moon by night.7Yahweh will keep you from all evil. He will keep your soul.8Yahweh will keep your going out and your coming in, From this time forth, and forevermore. Psalm 122 A Song of Ascents. By David.

When you have doubts about your salvation:

John 3:16 16For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

1 John 5:11-13 11The testimony is this, that God gave to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.12He who has the Son has the life. He who doesn`t have God`s Son doesn`t have the life.13These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.

When burdened with many problems:

Psalm 55:22 22Cast your burden on Yahweh, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved.

1 Peter 5:7 7casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you.

When needing rest:

Matthew 11:28-30 28"Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.29Take my yoke on you, and learn from me, for I am humble and lowly in heart; and you will find rest for your souls.30For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."

Galatians 6:9 9Let us not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we don`t give up.

When in doubt of God’s power to keep you faithful:

Philippians 1:6 6being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.

1 Peter 1:5 5who by the power of God are guarded through faith to a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

When driven by selfish desire:

Philippians 4:8 8Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things.

1 John 2:15-17 15Don`t love the world, neither the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, the Father`s love isn`t in him.16For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, isn`t the Father`s, but is the world`s.17The world is passing away with its lusts, but he who does God`s will remains forever.

When in financial need:

Psalm 34:10 10The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger, But those who seek Yahweh shall not lack any good thing.

Philippians 4:19 19My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

When facing sorrow:

2 Corinthians 1:3-5 3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort;4who comforts us in all our affliction, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, through the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.5For as the sufferings of Christ abound to us, even so our comfort also abounds through Christ.

Romans 8:26-28 26In the same way, the Spirit also helps our weaknesses, for we don`t know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can`t be uttered.27He who searches the hearts knows what is on the Spirit`s mind, because he makes intercession for the saints according to God.28We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.

When seeking God’s standard:

Matthew 5:48 48Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.

Matthew 22:36-40 36"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law?"37Jesus said to him, "`You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.`38This is the first and great commandment.39A second likewise is this, `You shall love your neighbor as yourself.`40The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments."

When needing forgiveness:

Hebrews 4:15-16 15For we don`t have a high priest who can`t be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, but one who has been in all points tempted like we are, yet without sin.16Let us therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace for timely help.

1 John 1:9 9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

When seeking guidance:

Proverbs 3:5-6 5Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, And don`t lean on your own understanding.6In all your ways acknowledge him, And he will direct your paths.

James 1:5 5But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given him.

When suffering:

Psalm 34:19 19Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But Yahweh delivers him out of them all.

2 Corinthians 4:17 17For our light affliction, which is for the moment, works for us more and more exceedingly an eternal weight of glory;

When lonely and depressed:

Psalm 23 1Yahweh is my shepherd: I shall lack nothing.2He makes me to lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.3He restores my soul. He guides me in the paths of righteousness for his name`s sake.4Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.5You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You have anointed my head with oil. My cup runs over.6Surely goodness and lovingkindness shall follow me all the days of my life, And I shall dwell in Yahweh`s house forever. Psalm 24 A Psalm by David.

Hebrews 13:5 5Be free from the love of money, content with such things as you have, for he has said, "I will in no way leave you, neither will I in any way forsake you."

When your patience is being tried:

Romans 8:28-29 28We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.29For whom he foreknew, he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.

James 1:2-4 2Count it all joy, my brothers, when you fall into various temptations,3Knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.4Let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

When facing temptation:

1 Corinthians 10:13 13No temptation has taken you but such as man can bear. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation make also the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

James 1:2-4 2Count it all joy, my brothers, when you fall into various temptations,3Knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.4Let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

James 1:12-15 12Blessed is the man who endures temptation, for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life, which the Lord promised to those who love him.13Let no man say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God," for God can`t be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one.14But each one is tempted, when he is drawn away by his own lust, and enticed.15Then the lust, when it has conceived, bears sin; and the sin, when it is full grown, brings forth death.

When seeking peace in a stressful time:

John 14:27 27Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, give I to you. Don`t let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful.

John 16:33 33I have told you these things, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have oppression; but cheer up! I have overcome the world."

Philippians 4:6-7 6In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.7The peace of God, which passes all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

When being treated unfairly:

1 Peter 2:19-23 19For it is commendable if someone endures pain, suffering unjustly, because of conscience toward God.20For what glory is it, if, when you sin, you patiently endure beating? But if, when you do well, you patiently endure suffering, this is commendable with God.21For to this were you called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow his steps,22who did not sin, "neither was deceit found in his mouth."23Who, when he was reviled, didn`t revile back. When he suffered, didn`t threaten, but committed himself to him who judges righteously;

1 Peter 4:12-15 12Beloved, don`t be astonished at the fiery trial which has come upon you, to test you, as though a strange thing happened to you.13But because you are partakers of Christ`s sufferings, rejoice; that at the revelation of his glory also you may rejoice with exceeding joy.14If you are insulted for the name of Christ, blessed are you; because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. On their part he is blasphemed, but on your part he is glorified.15For let none of you suffer as a murderer, or a thief, or an evil doer, or as a meddler in other men`s matters.

When feeling weak and inadequate:

2 Corinthians 12:9-10 9He has said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me.10Therefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in injuries, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ`s sake. For when I am weak, then am I strong.

Philippians 4:13 13I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.
