 Susan Mettetal Biography
Children's Minister
susan.mettetal@ccvbak.org

Susan Mettetal joined the CCV family in September of ’04 as the Children’s Pastor.  “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.” This verse from Proverbs is one of Susan’s life verses and clearly describes the path that led her to Bakersfield from Phoenix, Arizona.

Children of all ages delight Susan and her ministry with children stretches all the way back to her early teen years when she taught a VBS class at her grandparents Iowa country church – those little ones snagged her heart and introduced her to a world of teaching that forever changed her path.

Susan was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa; the oldest of four children. Her family now lives in Alabama and visits to Dixieland are always a treat. Susan graduated from Ozark Christian College (Joplin, MO) with a degree in Christian Education. Through ministry opportunities Susan enjoys helping others discover their gifts and has created workshops to encourage hospitality, friendship and out-of-the box teaching methods. She’s had the privilege of facilitating retreats, conferences, workshops and luncheons.

Susan’s interests and hobbies are as varied as the snowflakes of her Iowa winters. She enjoys friends, family, traveling, music, cooking, entertaining, reading and writing. Another passion of Susan’s is missions.  She is the stateside forwarding agent for German Christian Ministries – Brian & Linda Smith, church-planting missionaries in the north central Germany. For over 15 years Susan has enjoyed assisting the mission and has traveled to Germany several times and has enjoyed hosting many of her German friends when they make their way across the big pond.

Susan says, “These years I’ve had the privilege of serving with the families of CCV have been an incredible blessing. I’m surrounded by servant-leaders who faithfully give of their time, resources and gifts to make sure our Valley Kids meet Jesus and equip them to go tell His story. I love these children!”
